At Sea

The sculpture is of the little mermaid. Hans Christian Anderson wrote a story about the little mermaid that later became a Disney's Little Mermaid movie. The story is the same. The mermaid falls in love and trades her singing voice for her legs. The prince does not know her so she goes back to the sea. Danmark is very much like most Scandinavian towns.

We were in Germany yesterday. I was very sick and stayed on the boat. I have had a bad cold the entire trip. I am taking meds, since leaving, and feeling better today.

We will be in Tallinn, Estonia tomorrow. It was part of Russia and was one of the first to form it's own state. Three million people held hands on the border of their state to show Russia that they were with drawing. Those people formed three states. All of this happen in 1989. Not very long ago. It goes to show that if people really want something they can stand together and achieve great things.

Deb, The ship we are own is a new ship and was launched in July of 2008. It is truly amazing. I love the colors. Pink, Gray, Silver, Black and lime green. All my colors. There is black tile every where with lime green grout. The decor is very make believe and fun. I feel like I am in a Dr Seuss story book with all the horns and shinny surfaces.

Will post photos tomorrow.

Thanks for the history on the little mermaid. Now I remember the link to my scrambled brain! If you didn't tell us about Estonia, I would have to google it. That is truly an amazing story of solidarity.
So sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Did you bring your own meds? I wouldn't want to take something I purchased from the pharmacy in Estonia not knowing what it really is for.
Are you staying warm? Is the weather cold? How's the food? Do tell what you eat in Estonia?
Have lots of fun and keep posting!

Wow Chere. Thanks for the story on the little mermaid. I think I do remember hearing that growing up. Don't you just love learning all about the history and little bits and pieces of the places you visit? At least you'll have your blog to refer back to when you get home. Hope you feel better soon. Keep the pics coming. Let us know your ship name so that maybe someday Mitch and I can do the same trip.
