Help Pick a Color

I have been working really hard to get my scrapbook room in some kind of order. I am going to get Fred to build me some built ins to house everything. Now the big question is what color. When I started my scrapbook area it was already painted and was ready to go. Now I want to repaint and redecorate just for me. The question is what color or what color combination? I need your help. The cabinets will be white. I need a wall color and one or two accessory colors. Please help.

Fred and I left today to run down to Fla. to check the work on the house. We will be back on Saturday. I have to be home to go to my Scrap Club Meeting on Sunday. I can not miss it. It's Jamie's birthday. I am really looking forward to it. I told my honey that I had to be home one Sunday.

Let me know what you think on color.

Missing N Action

Yes, I have been missing from blogging. I was out of town with Cousins, Aunt, Step Mom and new friends for the week-end. We rented a motor home a drove to Mississippi to gamble. We had a great time. I met some of the nicest people. We gambled, ate, drank, talked, laughed and all of the listed all over again. Betty hit the Jack Pot on a nickel slot machine. She had 100,000 nickels or $5,000.00. They came and paid her on the spot, fifty 100 dollar bills. Then she won $1,000.00 on a penny slot machine. All on the first night we got there. We always have so much fun on our girl trips. We call our trips the "G3". "Girls Gotta Get Away" Anyway the trip was great. It is always fun to shake your life up a little bit.

I am still working in my scrapbook room with "Sort, Organize and Throw Away". My new paper towers are up and all my paper is sorted and filed. My Basic Grey collection took up one tower and one tray on the next one. I love the towers. My paper looks so neat and organized. I may even use it. I want to order another "Clip-It" to store all my clear stamps on. I need to find a place where I can see the top ring. As I am sorting, I am thinking about what cabinets I want Fred to make for me. I want to really put so thought into it. I need for every inch to work.

Hope everyone had a great and fun week-end. I have to get my lay-out for this week done. Lots to do and so little time. "I'm late, I'm late for a very important date. No time to say good-bye, hello. I'm late, I'm late, I'm late" from Alice in Wonderland. My Mom used to say this all the time.

Hook On Pioneer Woman

I admitt, I am hooked on Coffessions of a Pioneer Woman. My dear scrap friends have turned me on to the blog. This blog could put Barnes and Noble out of business. Ree, (Pioneer Woman), started this blog in 2005. From listening to scrap friends I had to go back and start from the begining. Her life and story is wonderful. Ree's talent for writting is spell binding. I could sit and read for hours. I can't look at this blog during the day. I would spend the whole day reading. She is also a accomplished photographer. Her pictures are amazing. She has shared with us her use of Photoshop. We are all looking forward to her new blog on how to use Photoshop. I can't wait. I may have to figure out a way to strap my lap top to my head. The subject of her husband "Marlboro Man" is a post all it's own. You guys need to check this man out. He, his pesky brother and all his fellow cowboys are worth a good pant. I tell you, check it out. I wonder if she ever gets "Marlboro Man" to wear his chaps naked. Check it out! That's a question for "Ask Ree?". I have found myself at 2:00 AM reading this blog. Last night I was just about to fall asleep reading. If you do check out Confessions of a Pioneer Woman at least go back to Sept. 6, 2006. That's where she starts telling the story of how she meet Marlboro Man. She will rename this story "Black Pumps and Tractor Wheels". Make sure you finish your latest novel before you log on. You will not want to stop. Promise.

Queen of the World

Goooood Morning Friends & Family, Our nice warm spring weather only lasted for 2 days. The weather is still crystal clear but the wind is cold. That's Georgia weather for you. It loves to tease you.

I know you are wondering about the picture. My scrap buddies and I were at an Event in B'ham, Al. That was yours truly making sure we were the first to go in and have great seats. You know me, always the oldest child and in charge. Thats me.

I want to be Queen of the world. I want to be every where, do everything, have everything, be the best at every thing, be first, just be the Queen of the World. I am not selfish. I will take anyone along with me. Do you want to join my merry band of Queens? At 50, I want to skate through life living and enjoying everything it has to offer.

This week-end is a great example. I am going to Mississippi with a bunch of girls for a girl trip. Then on the other hand my scrapbook buddies are taking a field trip to Achiever's for scrapbook shopping and lunch and a day filled with fun and laughter. See! I want to do it all.

My children are very famillar with my Magic Wand. When they were little and wanted something that was impossible to do. I would tell them that my Magic Wand was in the shop. IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP. Maybe I need to find a new fix-it shop.

If I was Queen of the World and had my Magic Wand I could do everything. See how it works.

I could also wake up skinny. That would be great. Go to bed fat and out of shape and wake up skinny and toned. See! If I was Queen of the World and had my Magic Wand!

Oh well, I'll get over it. I've lasted this long just being me and happy with that. But it is fun to think about being Queen of the World and having a Magic Wand. What about you? What would you do if you were Queen of the World and your Magic Wand was not in the shop? Let me know. Have a great and wonderful day. Just know that your slightly crazier friend is doing the same.

Lay Out of the Week 1

Week 1 and I am on schedule. HAL*LE*LU*JAH!! I am not very good at keeping schedules, but one week in and one lay-out down. Last February, Debra planned to take her daughter on a Scrapbook Cruise for Jamie's 30th birthday. I kinda hedged in on the trip, found a roommate (Deb), and off we went. We had a marvelous time. We explored the island during the day and took classes at night. It was a wonderful 7 days and 7 night. We all could have thrown main land life to the wind and become island bums. The weather was perfect. Our poor babies back home were freezing in rain and snow. The little island hoppers were basking in the sun, sipping on the drink of the day. Poor Us!!!!! What more can I say. IT WAS GREAT!!

Celebrate the Day

I wish I could share this day with all of my family and friends. I would love to have a big outdoor party with food, music, love and laughter. No, I have not been smoking the wackie weed this morning. I do not have on tie-dye pants. But, this morning when I took the dogs outside the day is just glorious. At 7:30Am it is sunny with clear blue skies and it is not cold. Almost like a spring morning. Of course it is still February and tomorrow we could wake up to snow. Today is one of those days. It is a day that I walk into the back yard and sing to myself "This is the day that the Lord hath made, I will be rejoice and be glad in it". Thank God for this beautiful day. Enjoy your family today and the world around you. You will be glad tonight that you did. Of course you could show up at my house with food, music, love and laughter and we could party.

It's Valentines Day what better time than today for me to introduce you to my Honey. We have know each other for 34 years. I first noticed him in high school. My best friend (Lynn Thorn) and I had home room together at the back of the school. Almost every morning, during home room, I would notice a blonde haired boy come flying in to the school parking lot, jumping up on a concert divider in a stars and stripe jeep, wearing Levi's, white shirt and a demin jacket. Of course he was late for school. He only lived maybe 4 block away. I ask Lynn "Who is that boy?" She knew he well because they were born on the same day at the same hospital. They had been crib mates, Elementary School buddies and High School Buddies. We talked and I told her how cute he was and I would like to go out with him. This all took place in the fall. Freddy was very shy and it took him awhile to ask me out. The first time he tried, he walked up to my car and knelt down on the ground to talk. Liz and I were sitting in the car talking and laughing. I turned around and he was there and I was laughing. He got up and walked away because he thought I was laughing at him. Lynn found me and asked "What did you do to Freddy?". Of course I told her the whole story. It took him several months before he would ask again. We dated our senior year. After graduation, we just went our seperate ways. I never forgot the love I felt for this kind and gentle young man. Sereval years later I was at Lynn's house at Lake Lanier. She had married and had two little girls. When I got there she told me that Freddy had just left. I told her to have him call me and maybe we could get together. He called and it was like we had never been apart. When we got married, I was 23 and he was 24, He told me that I was the only person that he had ever loved. That he would always love me and that we would be married forever. The young blonde haried, blue eyed boy that I feel in love with is the same man that I love today. We have built a successful business, raised two children and had alot of fun over the past 27 years. There are times that I could kill him and not bat an eye. But where would I be without him? He is rock, my partner and the love of my life. On this day of hearts and flowers, I can only say that "I love You".

Now through out this blog you may hear a different song but remember he is my love.

Goals for 2008

Okay, I can hear it now. I know it is not Jan., when you are suspose to do all of this. Please do remember that I just started this blog or diary the first of Feb. So I am alittle behind. I will pretend that there are only 11 months in this year. It's my blog, my goals and my words to live by. So I can make up all the rules. Sound good? See I told you this was going to be fun. If only I could legally print out money. My magic wand is still in the shop being repaired. I know my mind is wandering again. Back to Goals.

My goal this year is to complete a layout a week for my on personal self. Not to give away but put in a book for me. It can be about anything but it has to go in my scrapbook. Now to what is a layout. One great passion in life at the moment is "Scrap Booking". I am seriously addicted. I have SCRAK. Big Time. Yes, My name is Chere Mortense and I am addicted to scrap booking. Who goes a cruise to Hawaii with Lisa Bernson, editor of Creative Keepsakes magazine, to scrap? Who goes on scrap book field trips. Who goes to Scrap Book University? Who goes to Ala., Tenn., and Conn. for classes? Me and 3 of the most wonderful friends anyone could ever have. Met and made through scrap booking. I wake up, eat, and dream scrap booking. But it is a harmless hobby and I love it.

What is a lay out? It is a 1 to 2 page spread that I have created about the subject of my choice. It can include pictures of an activity or an event. It should tell a story. It is my history or my families history. One day I would like to do my past history. Hopefully my children will pass my scrapbooks down to their children. I hope that they will look at them and know who and what I was. My interest, hobbies, travels, my loves, just my life.

I will post my lay-outs on this blog for all to see. That way I have to be accountable. Boy I am really racking up the stuff to be accountable for. I have sort-organize-throw away and now I have lay-out of the week.

If I am falling down on the job, please let me know.

New Year Resolution

My New Year Resolution for 2008 is "SORT-ORGANIZE-THROW AWAY". I feel like my house is growing on top of me. Everywhere I look there of piles of junk. Most piles are made up of things that we no longer have a place for. My family cleans out their car and everything goes in the garage. I clean the garage and they fill it up. My husband love to order on the internet. We have a steadie stream of packages delievered daily. Some of them get put downstairs until he remembers that he ordered them. Weeks later he will ask, where is this? Or did I get something from Amazon? His idea of cleaning his office is to put boxes of stuff in the unfinished side of the basement. Do not get me wrong. I am just as guilt. The guest bedroom is my storage place or the dining room. I will buy something for Fla. or the next holiday and in the guest bedroom it goes. I can close the door and not think about it. Out of site, Out of mind. The kids use the living room for their dumping ground or the top of the landing going up stairs. They will also climb over piles of their stuff that I put on the stair to go up stairs. I do keep the family room and kitchen pretty pile free except for the magazines. They add a comforting decorators touch. A fashion statement. HA! The girls just have tennis balls, toys, chewies, little blankets and dog beds everywhere. I also have a wonderful angel from heaven who come 2 day "not 1 but 2 days" a week who tries to clean. Sometimes I do not how she does it. But she can make messy piles look like neat piles. Heaven forbid if she should ever one day throw her hands up in the air and quit. The girls meet her at the back door barkings and growling, jumpint up on her legs, attacking. She laughs and reaches down and pats them.

You should by now be thinking to yourself that you will never visit the house of mess. The only good thing I can say about it is that it is clean. Thanks to my Angel. So back to my New Years Resolution, SORT-ORGANIZE-THROW AWAY. This will also require taking the piles of junk somewhere. Did I mention that I hate garage sales.

To keep myself on track, (you remember the 50 words and wandering mind), to keep myself on
track I will post a monthly upday on SORT-ORGANIZE-THROW AWAY. Hopefully by 2009 I will have a less cluttered, more organized house. (This could requie moving and leaving everything behind. Start over.)
